Cudabeen could be Tracey Bartley's ticket back to the big time.

The Wyong trainer won three Group One races with Sniper's Bullet who retired in 2013 after winning more than $2.6 million prize money.

While the stable has not returned to those heights since, talented two-year-old Cudabeen is set to have her final juvenile start at Canterbury on Saturday.

There, she has the chance to show the potential which had her figuring in Golden Slipper calculations in summer.

Cudabeen won on debut at Kembla Grange in December last year before running an unlucky second to Scarlet Rain at Randwick with that filly going on to win the Group Two Sweet Embrace Stakes.

While the Slipper loomed, a stress fracture dashed those hopes.

After her recovery, Cudabeen returned to the races Wyong on July 12, finishing fourth in a strong two-year-old race.

Cudabeen unexpectedly sat outside the leader in that race when Grant Buckley took her forward from the widest barrier.

Bartley said taking a position near the tail of the field would be key for Tye Angland when he rides her over 1200m on Saturday.

"She'll be hard to beat but she'll want to have a soft time early," Bartley said.

Bartley said he would usually give a horse longer than 10 days between runs after their first-up run, but wanted to get Cudabeen's rating up to qualify for the Listed Rosebud at Randwick on August 6.

"She did have a bit of a gut-buster at Wyong," Bartley said.

"She had a good blow but she looks like she pulled up well."

Further into her preparation Bartley will look to fillies stakes races, but she faces a more immediate test at Canterbury.

"She's got to perform on Saturday," Bartley said.
