Cox Plate-winning trainer Greg Eurell is attacking the new season with renewed optimism having moved most of his horses into state-of-the-art stables at Cranbourne.

Most of Eurell's team settled in on Monday.

"There's 60 boxes there for us," Eurell said.

"We're right beside the swimming pool. We've got a treadmill, a 10-horse walker. We've got our own stripping stalls, wash bays.

"There's a massive mezzanine viewing area to watch trackwork. The facilities are first rate.

"It probably just gives us a bit more flexibility in our training program than what we had, in the fact that we had to travel to and from the track."

Like other trainers at Cranbourne, Eurell has previously had to take horses by float to the training centre for trackwork.

"Now you can minimise all of that and I think you can be a bit more effective on what you do with them and and how you do it," he said.

"I have absolutely no doubt we'll benefit from it greatly."

Eurell is one of five trainers granted on-course stabling in the first stage of the project at Cranbourne.

The 2015/16 season draws to a close this weekend.

"We've got a lot of young horses coming through that are unraced that we're very hopeful for," Eurell said.

"And to be in the complex and to be able to capitalise on that, hopefully that just gives them a little added extra."

Eurell, who won the Cox Plate with Pinker Pinker in 2011, will be out to end this season on a strong note with four runners at Caulfield on Saturday.

They include Carterista who caught the eye with her second placing on debut to Ocean Embers at the same track earlier this month.

Eurell says the filly has progressed well and Saturday's John Skewes Handicap will provide a guide to her spring prospects.

"I'd like to see her string a couple together and that would give us a bit more confidence moving forward," he said.

"She had given us the confidence to go to town first-up by what she had shown us at home. It was a big step for her but she at least showed she was up to it.

"I have no doubt she'll be very competitive again on Saturday."
