Ben Hayes is excited to be joining his father and cousin in a training partnership under the Lindsay Park banner.
With David Hayes and Tom Dabernig finishing third with 239 on the Australian trainers' premiership, Ben will join the pair in the coming season.
He earned his stripes as head of a small Adelaide stable which he will continue to oversee.
He will also run the Sydney stable at carnival times, allowing his father and cousin to concentrate on the Melbourne base.
"It's a big thrill. I'm just grateful for Dad and Tom for letting me come into their partnership," Hayes said.
He went to Adelaide earlier this year and in the months that followed there was a steady stream of winners with the Lindsay Park team finishing third on the metropolitan table with 29.
"Dad gave me a good five or six months to think about coming on board and it was quite daunting when I think about it," Hayes said.
"Dad was very happy with the results from when we set up from around Adelaide Cup time to the end of the season."
The Adelaide stable has the capacity for 18 horses but has averaged between 12 and 16.
With Adelaide trainer Bill Papazaharoudakis his right-hand man and sounding board, Hayes knows he can travel to Sydney with confidence when the time comes.
David Hayes said the initial thought was for Ben to take out his own licence in Adelaide and just have Dabernig and himself training out of Melbourne.
"Then I thought it might be better for the statistics if we are all in together," he said.
"We could potentially have 50 winners in Adelaide next season."
