Monday 8 August 2016, 6:37am

Caulfield Cup winner Mongolian Khan has been named New Zealand's Horse of the Year for a second time.

Trained by Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman to also win the NZ Derby and Australian Derby, Mongolian Khan will begin stallion duties at Windsor Park Stud next month.

His former stablemate Turn Me Loose, winner of the Emirates Stakes at Flemington last spring, was named champion sprinter and champion middle distance horse.

Sacred Elixir's win in the J J Atkins in Brisbane earned him champion two-year-old honours.

Australian Oaks winner Sofia Rosa was the filly of the year with Xtravagant, who is in Melbourne preparing for the spring carnival, the champion three-year-old.

Premier Sydney trainer Chris Waller returned home on Sunday night to accept a special award for global achievement.
