Tom Ryan to ride in the NZ GN Hurdle

Tuesday 9 August 2016, 3:15pm

Melbourne-based Irish jockey Tom Ryan will ride at the New Zealand Grand National Hurdle meeting before beginning a suspension.

Ryan was suspended at Sandown on Sunday for careless riding aboard Gold A Plenty in the Crisp Steeplechase.

Gold A Plenty fell later in the race, one of four horses not to complete the course.

Ryan has rides in three jumps races at Riccarton on Wednesday, including Ready Eddie in the day's feature, the Grand National Hurdle.

His suspension now begins after the Morphettville meeting on Saturday.

Ryan will miss the early races on the first day of the Ballarat two-day jumps festival commencing on August 21 and is free to ride at the Grand National Steeplechase meeting the following day.
