A big weight and a wide barrier aren't expected to stop Hidden Pearl in her march to the Sydney spring carnival when she has her second start this campaign at Eagle Farm.

Her trainer Barry Lockwood is confident she can overcome those obstacles and justify her $1.55 quote in Saturday's Trent Halliday Memorial Hcp (1000m).

Hidden Pearl made it six wins from 13 starts with a comprehensive 4-1/2 length win at Eagle Farm last Saturday week.

Her record since she began racing for Lockwood in April 2015 is six wins and two minor placings from nine starts.

Hidden Pearl has barrier eight in a field of 10 and her 60.5kg will be reduced to 59kg with Bridget Grylls' allowance but she is still giving five kilograms to the rest of the field.

"It is no use arguing with the handicapper as they will usually prove you wrong," Lockwood said.

"I could have run her next week at Doomben but she would have got 59 kilograms in a fillies and mares Plate race.

"So unless it is a heavy 15 she will be going around on Saturday."

Hidden Pearl's career looked in danger when she was badly injured in a race at Flemington in November.

"We put a lot of work into her comeback right from the day she got injured at Flemington. We had a good vet in Tim Roberts and he said to give her a good four months rest," Lockwood said.

"Hidden Pearl went out to Washpool Lodge for work on the water walker and treadmill. Then she was back in the stables for five months. It was terrific to see her back when she won at Eagle Farm."

Lockwood has the Group Two Shorts at Randwick on September 17 as Hidden Pearl's major target this spring.

"It is the type of race which is ideal for her at this stage of her career," Lockwood said.

He will also have the handy Kudero resuming the Northside Women's Health Open (1200m) at Eagle Farm.

The winner of nine races, Kudero hasn't started since being beaten in a race at the Gold Coast on May 7.

"He is a bit like a woolly goat at the moment and he hasn't lost his winter coat," Lockwood said.

"But he is going along OK and he has won first-up although he usually gets better with racing.

"The big question is how he will handle Eagle Farm."
