Lonhro
Heatherly, a daughter of Champion sire Lonhro, proved too strong in the Listed Carlyon Stakes at Moonee Valley on August 20, in an impressive return to racing over 1000m.
A previous winner of the G2 Rubiton Stakes, the classy mare initially experienced slight gate trouble but was able to slot in nicely to find cover in the running. Heatherly was two lengths clear when the field rounded the bend and was unchallenged as she cruised to victory.
Bred by Dr Gene Tsoi, Heatherly is out of Danzero mare Dancing Heather, who is a half-sister to G1 Stradbroke Handicap winner Linton. Heatherly was purchased for $90,000 at the 2014 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale by Barrie and Midge Griffiths and this victory marks the beginning of the mare’s Spring campaign with the G1 Moir Stakes her next target.
Champion sire Lonhro will stand the coming breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $88,000 (inc. GST).
