The Cranbourne Turf Club is hoping to attract quality gallopers for the Cranbourne Cup with the lure of a $1 million bonus if any horse can win the race and go on to win the Cox Plate.
The Listed $300,000 Cranbourne Cup (2025m) on October 9 is run 13 days before the $3 million Group One Cox Plate at Moonee Valley.
The $1 million bonus for winning the Cranbourne Cup and Cox Plate is offered by the Cranbourne Turf Club in partnership with its major sponsor Tabcorp.
"It would be outstanding to have Cox Plate calibre horses competing at Cranbourne and we hope the million-dollar bonus might entice leading trainers and owners to consider the TAB Cranbourne Cup as part of their campaign," Cranbourne Turf Club chief executive Neil Bainbridge said.
Mourinho won the Cranbourne Cup two years ago while last year's winner was Digitalism.
