Trainer George Osborne has taken advantage of a grass gallop at Caulfield with his popular mare Miss Vista.

The Apache Cat lookalike with the white face and distinctive markings on her legs, galloped over 800m between races on Saturday in preparation for her return to racing.

Osborne has struggled to get a grass gallop into Miss Vista, unbeaten in two starts.

"I haven't had troubles working her, we've still had the sand tracks, the problem has been through the whole preparation the turf track at Kyneton has been so wet we haven't had the availability of a grass gallop," Osborne said.

"She's had two jump-outs on the synthetic at Geelong but I wasn't keen on taking her to a chopped-out muddy track until the weather dried and all of a sudden we're getting close to the pointy end and we haven't had a grass track.

"Today was just to get her on a grass track so we're now ready to go."

Osborne said Miss Vista would be nominated for a 955m race at Moonee Valley next Friday but favoured kicking off her preparation over 1200m at Caulfield the following week.

"I'm happy to repay Caulfield for their generosity," Osborne said.

"She's had a day out, had a look around and she's got a head start on anywhere else I need to go."
