Jockey Michael Walker's day ended on a bright note after he guided Freshwater Storm to a long-priced win at Caulfield.
Walker had been hit with a 12-meeting suspension following his ride on Blue Tycoon in the Telstra Phonewords Supports The Alfred Foundation Plate.
The jockey pleaded guilty to careless riding after Radcliffe clipped the heels of Blue Tycoon and blundered in the home straight.
The suspension rules Walker out of the Underwood Stakes meeting at Caulfield next Saturday.
Walker guided Freshwater Storm to victory in the Gold Nugget, giving the gelding his second successive win in the race.
The Gold Nugget is usually run at Ballarat but was transferred because of wet weather to the Geelong meeting on Friday, only to end up at Caulfield when the Geelong meeting was transferred to the all-weather track.
Freshwater Storm ($51) charged home between runners to defeat Refulgent ($6.50) with Foundry ($9.50) a nose away third.
