Jade Da Rose almost claims perfect start

Thursday 22 September 2016, 4:36pm

Jade Da Rose almost completed a fairytale start to her new dual career at Mornington.

The Cranbourne-based horsewoman finished second aboard Parwan Prince, a horse she also trains for her parents and a few friends on Thursday.

Da Rose, along with Michelle Payne and Rhonda Mangan, was last month granted a trainers' licence while also keeping their jockeys' licences.

She is the first of the trio to ride one of her own runners.

Da Rose said she felt nervous before riding Parwan Prince in the benchmark 70 class race, adding that he may have been a touch unlucky.

"It's a great feeling," Da Rose told racing.com

"I've been in this game for so long. It's not challenging (training), just different.

"He didn't jump quite as well as I thought he would have. If he was outside the leader it might have been a different story."

Da Rose said she has no ambitious plans at this stage of her training career.

With a 16-month old son Da Rose is happy to potter around with a couple of horses until he gets older.
