Super Cash returns with Caulfield victory

Saturday 24 September 2016, 1:37pm

Super Cash has launched her spring campaign with victory in a benchmark race at Caulfield on her way to a return to stakes company.

A Listed winner and Group Three placegetter as a three-year-old, Super Cash made her first appearance as a four-year-old in Saturday's The Alfred Hospital Plate (1100m) and justified her $3.10 favouritism.

Super Cash settled midfield on the fence in the field of nine before Craig Williams angled her into the clear at the 300m.

She claimed the lead approaching the 100m and defeated the closing Mossin' Around by a length with a long neck to Grey Street third.

"It was a great race to kick her off in, a restricted mares' race," trainer Andrew Noblet said.

"She has been trialling well and Craig gave her a great ride.

"He got her out at the right time and she was good at the end."

Noblet said there are a couple of options for Super Cash' next start, including a Listed race on October 15 at Caulfield, and he is keen to run her down the straight in a mares' sprint at Flemington during Melbourne Cup week.

"She has got great form down the straight," he said.

Super Cash was second to Petit Filous in last year's Cap D'Antibes Stakes at Flemington and also won a Listed sprint for three-year-olds down the straight in March.
