Lightly raced mare Chloe In Paris is ready to make her long-awaited return to racing but faces a tough assignment at Moonee Valley.

The Ciaron Maher-trained mare will tackle Chautauqua, Buffering and Extreme Choice in the Group One Moir Stakes on Friday night.

Chloe In Paris hasn't raced since finishing sixth to Avoid Lightning in the Sapphire Stakes at Randwick during the 2015 autumn carnival.

Earlier in that campaign she won the Listed Bob Hoysted in which subsequent Group One winner Flamberge finished third.

Chloe In Paris developed a knee infection as she was being prepared for last year's spring carnival and was turned out for a long break.

The Caulfield based Maher has given the now six-year-old, a veteran of just nine race starts, a thorough build-up for her return on Friday night.

He was unhappy with her condition earlier in the month and withdrew her from the McEwen Stakes at Moonee Valley.

But a jump-out at Caulfield last Tuesday convinced Maher the mare was ready to race again.

"She trialled up well and she's heading towards the Moir," Maher said.

"She's got a great fresh record, her 1000 metre record is really good and she seems to have come up well."

Damien Oliver is set to ride Chloe In Paris.

The Mick Price-trained Blue Diamond winner Extreme Choice is heading to Moonee Valley for an important track gallop ahead of Friday night's race.

Extreme Choice galloped at Moonee Valley last month and has had two recent jump-outs at Caulfield.

Chautauqua has impressed in two jump-outs at Flemington in preparation for his return, his first start since winning Chairman's Sprint Prize in Hong Kong in May.

Buffering, who was injured in the Hong Kong race, has recovered and has heen trialling well in Brisbane in preparation for a fourth win in the Moir.
