CHRIS WALLER PREVIEWS HIS GROUP ONE RUNNERS ON EPSOM DAY
EPSOM HANDICAP
Mackintosh (52kg) - "If you forget his Derby run in Queensland his form is just impeccable. I think people might be underestimating him a little bit."
McCreery (51.5kg) - ""He's been racing over 2000 metres so he's just done maintenance work and as a result he's jumping out of his skin."
Vanbrugh (51kg) - "Vanbrugh gets into the race pretty well considering he's a Group One-winning colt. The key to him is a soft 5 or better track."
Torgensen (50kg) - "He's been set as a lightweight chance like we did with Boban. His run in the Bill Ritchie was brilliant."
THE METROPOLITAN HANDICAP
Who Shot Thebarman (57kg) - "It's not a bad weight for him because he's a class horse."
Storm The Stars (55.5kg) - "He's got the credentials from overseas to win it. You'd expect improvement over 2400m."
Grand Marshal (54.5kg) - "I don't know what happened last start, he was plain. I can only forget that run because he's pulled up well and he doesn't run like that."
Junoob (53.5kg) - "On Saturday he drops to a much lower weight and the gap has diminished finally, albeit against a field with more depth."
Sacred Master (53kg) - "He's been set for the race all along. He looked plain in those shorter distance races and he looked plain on wet tracks. 2400 metres will suit as well as a high pressure race."
Antonio Giuseppe (51kg) - "What he's got in his favour is that he's still on the way up and he still could improve over that 2400m distance."
FLIGHT STAKES
Sezanne (56kg)- "She was unlucky not to have beaten Foxplay last start and that was her first attempt at that grade. She's got some upside to her. She can really improve."
Awoke (56kg)- "I can't really say she's going any worse than the likes of Foxplay and Sezanne that were obviously the benchmark last start. She's a good chance of running in the top three."
