Wohler happy with Articus ahead of Cup

Monday 10 October 2016, 10:38am

German trainer Andreas Wohler says he couldn't be happier with Articus heading into the Caulfield Cup after arriving in Australia and watching the horse work at Werribee.

Wohler, who trained Protectionist to win the 2014 Melbourne Cup, arrived in Melbourne on Sunday night and was at the quarantine facility to see Articus gallop on Monday morning in preparation for Saturday's Caulfield Cup.

"I didn't want him to do too much because he looks pretty fit. I just wanted to keep him ticking over but he seems to be in great condition and looks very bright and feels very happy," Wohler said.
