One kilogram Cup penalty for Assign

Herbert Power Stakes winner Assign has moved closer to a start in the Melbourne Cup with a one kilogram penalty for his Group Two win.

The Lloyd Williams-owned stayer will carry 51kg if he lines up in the Cup on November 1 with the penalty taking him to 27th in the order of entry for the 24-horse field.

Katelyn Mallyon , who rode him to his Herbert Power win on Saturday, will retain the ride in the Cup.
