Euroa’s Blue Gum Farm tasted success internationally over the weekend.

Blue Gum Farm shuttler Canford Cliffs (Ire) sired his latest first-crop winner when Cavatina overcame a wide trip in Singapore on Friday.

The Desmond Koh trained three year old sprinter was bred and sold by Blue Gum for $40,000 at the 2015 Inglis Classic yearling sale.

Cavatina (3g Canford Cliffs – Optimizing by Exceed And Excel) won the Initiation Plate (1100m) at Kranji despite being trapped three-wide facing the breeze.  He sustained a strong winning dash to gradually wear down Libeccio, Redmayne and Jacks Secret.

Koh said the gelding had been hitting around the mark and was confident he was not without ability.

“He goes all right and I hope he can strengthen up further,” said Koh.  “It’s good to get his first win for (Jubilant Racing) owner Joshua Tan.”

Cavatina is a sibling to handy Mick Price trained galloper Chapel Road (by Equiano). They are out of the Exceed and Excel mare Optimzing.

Blue Gum graduate Royal Missile continued a fruitful weekend for the Euroa stud when racing returned to Ascot on Saturday.  She settled at the rear of the field, but made ground swiftly around the turn and sprinted home for a stylish victory in the Hosemasters Plate (1400m).

Royal Missile (Smart Missile) is a half-sister to Group 1 winner Turffontein and Blue Gum sold her to Perth owner Ray Meadowcroft for $240,000 at the 2015 Inglis Melbourne Premier.

Trainer Simon Miller will set her for the Group 3 Champion Fillies Stakes (1600m) at Ascot on November 12.
