Golden Slipper winner Capitalist will have his next start in a straight race at Flemington, but which one has yet to be decided.

The Group One options are Saturday's Coolmore Stud Stakes against his fellow three-year-olds or the Darley Classic a week later at weight-for-age.

Co -trainer Peter Snowden was on hand to watch the colt work on the straight course on Tuesday and said his preferred option would be Darley.

"It's not for me to decide. It's for the team to decide," Snowden said

"For me personally, I'd sooner wait for until Saturday week.

"I just think he gets a really good weight relief there.

"But whatever race he runs in no doubt he's going to be competitive."

The trainer says the weather is also a factor with the trainer scratching him from last Friday night's Group One Manikato Stakes because of the rain-affected track.

Snowden, who trains in partnership with his son Paul, was pleased with Capitalist's solo gallop on Tuesday in his first look up the straight.

The colt was clocked to run his final 400m in a slick 21.96sec.

"He's going well enough. It was very sharp work and I'm happy with him," Snowden said.

The Snowdens have unbeaten Russian Revolution in the Coolmore and he impressed in a straight track jump-out last Friday, finishing just behind Extreme Choice in a heat which also featured Golden Rose winner Astern.

Russian Revolution defeated Astern and Capitalist in the Roman Consul Stakes last start and Snowden said he was a colt who has kept improving.

"He's not a big horse but he's a real athlete," Snowden said.

"I was stoked with his trial.

"He beat a good field last start and he's four from four so he can't do much more than what he's done.

"No doubt this is the toughest assignment he's met but he's going to go there in good order."
