Hong Kong beckons for Lumiere

Wednesday 26 October 2016, 7:40am

With the Breeders' Cup meeting off the agenda, the Mark Johnston-trained three-year-old Lumiere may be aimed at Hong Kong Mile at the International meeting at Sha tin.

In what has so far been a campaign of mixed fortunes, Lumiere turned in one of her better efforts on her latest start when second in a Group Two race at Newmarket.

Charlie Johnston, assistant to his trainer father Mark, said the Hong Kong meeting in December was a serious consideration.

"Lumiere is not going to America, but we have entered her in the Hong Kong Mile and that is in the back of our minds at the moment," Johnston said.

"America would come a bit too soon for her. We will just see how she is as that meeting is not until December.

"A mile on quick ground on a fairly sharp track should suit her perfectly."
