Fancourt to make return

Thursday 27 October 2016, 3:13pm

Former leading apprentice Alannah Fancourt makes her return to Brisbane racing at Eagle Farm after 10 months on the sidelines with injury.

Fancourt, who is apprenticed to Tony Gollan at Eagle Farm, was running second on the apprentices' premiership behind Jim Orman when she was hurt in a fall on New Year's Eve.

She injured her neck and then hurt her wrist during her recovery.

Fancourt hasn't ridden in a race in 10 months but has gained fitness in trials and trackwork.

She is scheduled to have her first ride back at the Sunshine Coast on Friday night and Gollan has given her the chance for a first-up metropolitan win aboard Frespanol in Saturday's Padua College Open (1400m).

"Lani is a hard worker and a talented jockey. I hope we can give her a winner and put her back in the spotlight," Gollan said.
