French jockey Johan Victoire will be the beneficiary of Jason Collett's misfortune with Brett Cavanough calling on him to ride at Rosehill.

Collett will be off for several weeks with a broken bone in his foot suffered in a fall at Canterbury last Friday night.

Cavanough plans to bring four horses from his Albury base to compete in Sydney on Saturday, if they all get runs in their respective races.

"Jason Collett rode Avroson last time but he is off injured so I have booked Johan Victoire for him and a couple of others," Cavanough said.

"I needed a jockey who could ride light and Johan has ridden plenty of winners so I'm happy to have him."

Originally from Mauritius, Victoire went to France as an adolescent and began his apprenticeship with champion trainer Andre Fabre.

After stints in Hong Kong and France, Victoire returned to Mauritius but was keen to ride again in a bigger arena> He was given an introduction to Gai Waterhouse earlier this year and moved to Australia in July.

The Albury-based Cavanough has Corsica Lad in the 1200m-Benchmark 78 handicap on 59kg but his other three runners are down the order in their races.

Last Try Wins and Avroson are 19 and 20 in the ballot for the 2000m-Benchmark 78 which has a field limit of 14 while Yours Mine Ours is equal 15th in the Highway Handicap (1100m) which has a maximum of 13 starters.

Collett rode Avroson when he finished second to Flitero in the Country Classic (2000m) at Rosehill on October 29.

The Matt Dunn-trained winner franked his form with a 2200m-victory at Doomben on Saturday.

"Avroson taken time to get there but the horse that beat him came out and won in Brisbane and won well," Cavanough said.

"I think there will be some form out of the Rosehill race.

"Corsica Lad is weighted out of the bush where there's not a lot of weight relief for him so he has to come to town.

"Yours Mine Ours has got match fitness on his side.

"He's a Victorian horse who's had a bit of trouble getting used to racing right handed but he's entitled to have a crack at a race like this.

"And Last Try Wins could be a lovely country Cups horse."
