Black Caviar 2YO nearing Flemington trial

Tuesday 22 November 2016, 5:17pm

The first of Black Caviar's foals is almost ready for the hustle and bustle of a major training centre as she progresses towards her first race start.

Oscietra could be seen as early as Friday week if Lindsay Park decide she is forward enough to take part in a Flemington jump-out.

All Oscietra's work so far has been at Lindsay Park's country property at Euroa in country Victoria.

Co-trainer David Haye says the stable is comfortable with how the filly is progressing.

"We haven't gone flat out with her but she's been going pretty well in her build-up gallops," Hayes senior said.

"She's been up at the farm and hasn't got to Flemington yet, but she might get there Friday week I think.

"That's the next part of her training progression, get her to Flemington and get her used to the hustle and bustle of that training centre."

Hayes said how Oscietra performed in the jump-out would determine when the filly made her debut.

And the trainer is confident she will win races.

"How good she is I just don't know yet," Hayes said.

"We haven't really tested her yet but what she is showing us is she's got some nice ability."

Oscietra is raced by the same ownership group as Black Caviar who was unbeaten in her 25 career starts, including 15 at Group One level, for trainer Peter Moody.

Since giving birth to Oscietra, who is by Exceed And Excel, Black Caviar has produced a yearling colt by Sebring and a filly foal by Snitzel.
