Pop gives duo a second chance

Saturday 3 December 2016, 2:47pm

Smart gelding Bring It Home Pop's win at Eagle Farm has assured trainer Daryl Hansen and jockey Luke Tarrant have the chance to win a second Magic Millions Classic.

Bring It Home Pop ($5) led all the way to beat the favourite I Am Vegas ($3.90) by three-quarters of a length in Saturday's $100,000 QTIS Plate (1000m)

Hansen and Tarrant combined to win the 2015 Magic Millions Classic with Le Chef and they are growing in confidence for a second win in the $2 million race.

A $50,000 yearling Bring It Home Pop now has $81,800 prize money which will ensure him a start in the Classic (1200m) on January 14.

"It is good to get the prize money up so now I have seven weeks to plot his exact course to the Classic," Hansen said.

"He went well first-up when second and I felt he had improved further.

"He was a relatively cheap horse and he would be a lot cheaper in seven weeks time," he said.

Tarrant believes Bring It Home Pop can improve further.

"I will be giving the Millions a lot of thought in coming weeks, " Tarrant said.

Meanwhile, tough staying mare All Clear earned herself at a crack at the $1 million Magic Millions Stayers Cup with her tearaway win in the Open Hcp (2200m).

All Clear ($4.20) led by 15 lengths in the middle stages and held on to beat Anton En Avant by 2 1/4 lengths.

"I love it when a plan comes together. We were going to runner in the 1800m race but when there was no pace in the race we decided to run in the 2200m," trainer Noel Doyle said.

Jockey Glen Colless said he had intended to lead but not by so much.

"I don't have many horses get away from me but that one did," Colless said.
