Lloyd to continue run for Nolan

Monday 5 December 2016, 1:49pm

Trainer Michael Nolan is among the Queensland trainers enjoying a winning association with veteran jockey Jeff Lloyd.

While Lloyd has a great strike rate with trainers such as Toby Edmonds, his efforts with Nolan are outstanding.

Lloyd has a huge lead in the Brisbane jockeys premiership riding 11 metropolitan winners in four days to sit on 56 for the season.

He had his 13th ride this season for Toowoomba-based Nolan on Saturday and the pair brought up their seventh win with Dream Finnish for a strike rate of just over 50 per cent.

They will combine again with Sir Donald at Ipswich on Wednesday.

"Jeff wanted to stick with Dream Finnish even after she went terribly at Doomben at her last start," Nolan said.

"That is the thing about Jeff - he reads horses very well. I put winkers on Dream Finnish to get her to concentrate."

Nolan has high hopes for Sir Donald who runs in a Class Two Plate (1010m) after being beaten at Eagle Farm on November 19.

"Jeff will stick and I think Sir Donald can bounce back," Nolan said.

Lloyd became the oldest winner of the Brisbane metropolitan premiership last season and the 55-year-old is 26 clear of Jim Byrne on his way to a second.
