Chris Waller insists From Within has everything a trainer wants in a two-year-old being prepared for at least one of Australia's richest juvenile races.
But just to make sure, he will pit Saturday's Canterbury winner against some of her more seasoned stablemates who know a thing or two about morning track gallops.
From Within has been promoted to $5 favouritism for the Magic Millions at the Gold Coast on the strength of her win in the TAB Plate that left jockey Glyn Schofield in no doubt she will be a filly to be reckoned with on January 14.
"She's got size. She's got speed. She's got everything," he said.
Using her rails draw to lead with a minimum of effort, From Within ran up to her $1.45 quote with a 1-1/4 length win over Invader ($7) with Chauffeur ($5.50) finishing three-quarters of a length away third.
Waller had From Within on his list of Magic Millions horses to buy but at $360,000 he lost out to Blue Sky Bloodstock.
It took only a follow-up telephone call to Blue Sky's Julian Blaxland for Waller to land the horse in his stable and the Magic Millions looms large - with one proviso.
"She had things go her way to day and we're mindful of that. It's only two weeks to the Magic Millions," Waller said.
"We'll make sure she is put under a bit of pressure at home before committing to run (in the Magic Millions).
"We'll probably work her with a few older horses and give her a bit of cover and make sure she learns about that side of racing as well."
Waller said if From Within contested the Magic Millions, she would go into the $2 million race with an attitude not often found in young horses.
"She is very professional. She's a ready-made two-year-old," he said.
"The reason why she is here is because she has a great temperament.
"She knows what to do and relaxes and switches on.
"They are the things I'm looking for in a young horse.
"Obviously you are trying to identify the talent but then it's up to the trainer to make sure she's got the mental composure to go with it."
