A turnaround in Gold Symphony's form may have provided a crucial confidence boost to allow him to once again be competitive in stakes company.

The Peter and Paul Snowden training partnership plans to accept with Gold Symphony and Princefamous for Saturday's Listed Carrington Stakes (1400m) at Randwick but will wait until closer to race day to make a final decision on their runners.

A dual Group Three winner as a three-year-old when trained by Peter Moody, Gold Symphony lost his form and had struggled to capture it in Sydney open age racing at four.

But the turnaround came at Warwick Farm on January 7 when he put a four-horse field to the sword and drew away to win by 1-1/4 lengths.

"He won well the other day," Paul Snowden said.

"It was a small field but he beat horses that have got form - Girl Sunday and Imposing Lass."

Imposing Lass franked the form by winning the Group Three Belle Of The Turf Stakes at Gosford on Friday while Girl Sunday put three metropolitan wins together earlier in her preparation.

"They've competed against a higher level and he beat them on his merits so it was good to see," Snowden said.

"Maybe he might have been flattered with the wet conditions but at least the horse is back to winning form."

Gold Symphony could again strike a wet track with showers forecast on Friday which are predicted to bring up to 15mm of rain to Sydney.

Stablemate Princefamous steps up to 1400m for the first time in his career after finishing in the Listed Starlight Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on December 3 and an unplaced effort in the Listed Canterbury Classic (1200m) at Canterbury on New Year's Eve.

"This time through he's been good. He won first-up and there's been excuses ever since," Snowden said.

He said an untried distance range always presented an unknown but Princefamous had indicated he would handle the rise in trip.

"He's a horse who can race well Saturday," Snowden said.

Both Snowden-trained runners are on the limit with 53kg while the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Ecuador is set to carry top weight of 61kg.

Kim Waugh's entries Shiraz and Oxford Poet have been allocated 57 and 55kg respectively, and sit above the Gerald Ryan-trained Dances On Stars and Wouldnt It Be Nice from Paul Perry's stable who have been given 53kg.

The Peter Robl-trained Ninth Legion, winner of the race in 2015, has 58kg.
