Luke Dittman reunites with Wicked Intent

Thursday 19 January 2017, 2:07pm

Jockey Luke Dittman's good recent form has earned him a reunion with smart sprinter Wicked Intent at Eagle Farm.

Wicked Intent will be attempting to turn around his recent ordinary form in stakes races when he takes on an easier 1000m-open handicap on Saturday.

Dittman rode a double at the Gold Coast metropolitan meeting two weeks ago and made his one ride at Doomben on Wednesday count aboard brilliant two-year-old winner Snitzkraft who scored by 8-1/4 lengths.

Munce is hoping Dittman can produce a top-class effort on Wicked Intent who has been well beaten at his past two starts.

Dittman rode Wicked Intent three times during the winter for seconds in the Listed Chief de Beers Stakes and a three-year-old Quality Handicap.

"Luke has been riding well and he did handle Wicked Intent perfectly during the winter. We have drawn barrier ten on Saturday and that makes it hard," Munce said.

"But he is down in class and back to 1000 metres so we will see. I will have to have a good look at the race."

On his final day in the saddle, former jockey Munce rode Wicked Intent to sixth in the 2015 Magic Millions.

The two youngsters he trained for this year's race, Ours To Keep and Champ Elect, have gone for well earned breaks.

Ours to Keep finished ninth and Champ Elect seventh in last week's $2 million race.

"Champ Elect pulled up well but Ours To Keep was a bit sore and sorry. The track was hard and he felt it," Munce said.

"But they have both done a good job and earned nearly $500,000 between them already so no use complaining."

"They can have a good break and hopefully be back later this year."
