Houtzen to miss Randwick trial

Wednesday 15 February 2017, 1:18pm

Golden Slipper second favourite Houtzen will miss the Randwick trials this week with trainer Toby Edmonds still undecided about her comeback run.

The filly had 10 days in the paddock after winning the Magic Millions Classic on January 14 and has been back in Edmonds' Gold Coast stable for three weeks.

Edmonds had been considering running Houtzen at the Randwick trials but they were moved from Monday to Thursday.

"They were moving the trials around so I decided not to run. I still have plenty of options," Edmonds said.

"There are trials here next week or I can enter her for a Brisbane two-year-old race. Mind you she is going to get a big weight in one of those."

Edmonds said he could send Houtzen to the Sweet Embrace Stakes at Randwick on Saturday week or wait another week for the Magic Night Stakes.

He will make a decision later this week.

Houtzen is the $8 second favourite for the Golden Slipper on March 18 with She Will Reign the $6 favourite ahead of her return at Rosehill on Saturday..
