Moreira given all clear for Diamond ride

Friday 17 February 2017, 1:18pm

Champion jockey Joao Moriera has been given the green light by Hong Kong officials to ride Property in the Blue Diamond Stakes in Melbourne.

Property, who is raced in Hong Kong interests, has won the Blue Diamond Preview and Prelude for colts and geldings.

He needs to be a late entry for Saturday week's $1.5 million Blue Diamond at Caulfield, with the payment due by Monday.

In both the lead-up races he was ridden by Craig Williams who earlier this week committed to Lindsay Park filly Catchy.

Moreira will return to Hong Kong after the Blue Diamond to ride at the Sha Tin meeting on February 26 featuring the Group One Hong Kong Gold Cup and Group One Queen's Silver Jubilee Cup.

Sydney jockey Tommy Berry is booked to ride Designs On Rome in the gelding's bid for a third-straight Hong Kong Gold Cup and will also be aboard last-start Group One winner Helene Paragon again in the Queen's Silver Jubilee Cup.

Hugh Bowman is booked for reigning Hong Kong Horse of the Year Werther in the Gold Cup.
