Tivaci to stand at Waikato Stud

Thursday 20 April 2017, 1:25pm

All Aged Stakes winner Tivaci has run his last race and will head to Waikato Stud in New Zealand where he will stand in the spring.

Waikato Stud manager Mark Chittick has confirmed that Tivaci will not compete in Queensland's winter carnival following Saturday's Group One victory at Randwick.

"There were various options but I think he's shown and proven that he's a superior sprinter and he's won a Group One race against a very good field in probably one of the world's best racing carnivals," Chittick told Sky Sports Radio.

"He's done all he has to do and we don't see a lot of upside in carrying on."

The Mike Moroney-trained horse surged from near last to snatch the weight-for-age feature from Le Romain by a neck at Randwick.

Following the race, Moroney said that Queensland remained a possibility and there was also talk of Royal Ascot in June.

But it was later decided Tivaci had nothing more to prove, Chittick said.

"We'd just like to get the horse home and settle him in, give him plenty of time and be able to show him off to breeders here," he said.

Tivaci's ownership group will settle on a service fee in the coming weeks.
