Doncaster Mile-bound It's Somewhat has continued his preparations for the $3 million race with a solo gallop between races at Warwick Farm.
The John O'Shea-trained gelding won the Group Two Ajax Stakes (1500m) first-up on March 11 and and is scheduled to run next in Saturday week's Group One Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick.
With the track in the heavy (9) range on Wednesday at Warwick Farm, It's Somewhat worked over 1200m after the opening race in 1:24.17s, running his final 600m in 38.25sec with his track rider aboard.
O'Shea was on hand to watch the work along with his assistant Darren Beadman.
"It did him well to have an afternoon out and get his heartbeat up a bit," Beadman said.
"He seemed to gallop pretty well.
"He's come out of that race really well and will take good benefit out of today."
The stable also has Epsom Handicap winner Hauraki heading to the Doncaster while import Spectroscope could also join that pair depending on how he performs in Saturday's Group Three Doncaster Prelude at Rosehill.
Spectroscope made an immediate impression at his Australian debut with victory over 1350m in a benchmark race at Rosehill earlier this month and is the $3.50 favourite for the Doncaster Prelude.
"He steps up in grade here but he gets significant weight relief and he's trained on beautifully," O'Shea said.
"He's really adapted to the Australian conditions in his work and I don't think the wet ground is any fear for him."
