Seven years and a million dollars after he ran second in the Golden Slipper, Decision Time has run his last race.

Trainer Clarry Conners said Decision Time had suffered a tendon injury and had left the stable to go to a spelling farm in the NSW Southern Highlands.

"He will be well looked after and have plenty of other horses for company," Conners said.

"He is a favourite and I will really miss him around the stable. He is like part of the family.

"It was his tendon again but apart from that he is a happy and healthy horse."

Although he will not race again, it might not be the last Conners sees of him.

"Once his leg heals and if the situation arises I've always thought I'd like him to be a stable pony," he said.

"He likes all the attention and everybody loves him. He's such a good natured horse."

Although his 54-start career was interrupted by injury, Decision Time reminded everyone of his talent when he won an 1100m-straight sprint at Flemington in December.

In all, Decision Time won 11 races and was placed eight times, including his second to Crystal Lily in the 2010 Golden Slipper.

He ran his last race when fifth at Rosehill in February as the last horse from that Slipper still on the racetrack.

Conners has won four Golden Slippers and although he didn't have a runner this year, he will head to the Easter yearling sale hoping to find the next one.

He also has some ammunition for the upcoming Brisbane winter carnival.

"I didn't have one that was ready for the Slipper this year but I had some nice fillies trial last week at Warwick Farm," he said.

"I'm hoping to take some to Queensland for the winter. I've had some luck up there."
