Champion Adelaide apprentice Matthew Poon has had a mixed introduction to racing in Hong Kong with a winner at Sha Tin and a visit to hospital.
Poon, a Hong Kong native, did his mandatory time overseas to hone his skills, and his performances in South Australia earned him the call-up to Hong Kong racing.
His fourth ride on Sunday brought victory on the John Moore-trained Happy Meteor but he was tossed off his mount on the way on to the track two races later.
He was not seriously hurt but was taken to hospital for observation, missing the winning ride on Penang Hall for his master David Hall in the final race.
