The Peter and Will Hulbert training partnership will break one of its golden rules when brilliant barrier trial winner Cooroi Chase runs at Doomben.

Cooroi Chase will make a belated debut in Saturday's QTIS Two-Year-Old (1050m) against a field of smart youngsters as long as the races go ahead after heavy rain.

The Hulberts have a big wrap on Cooroi Chase but have scratched her twice in recent weeks because of the wet tracks.

"We have a golden rule that we don't give two-year-olds their first start on a wet track. But the weather has forced our hand as she needs to race," Peter Hulbert said.

"She was entered for a Caloundra race two weeks ago but it was a heavy track. Then we had her in last Saturday but again it poured overnight and we scratched her."

Cooroi Chase went to Deagon on Tuesday and won a trial by 16 lengths.

"I am not knocking the horses that finished behind her but Michael Hellyer rode her and said he never really let her go," Hulbert said.

"Michael came back and was stunned because he didn't think he was going that fast."

"Either she is brilliant on wet tracks or the others aren't much good. I suppose we will find out on Saturday."

Cooroi Chase is by Show A Heart out of Kembla Heights making her a half-sister to stablemate Saga Miss who has won five races this season.

"Saga Miss took a while to get it all together but Cooroi Chase is more switched on," Hulbert said.

"But it indicates Cooroi Chase should get over a bit of ground later on."

The Hulberts wil also have consistent stayer Endless Don in the Benchmark 75 (2200m) on Saturday.

"He has been very consistent and although he has won only one race he hasn't finished further back than fifth in seven starts this campaign," Hulbert said.
