Winx has added another dimension to the first day of The Championships at Randwick with a solo gallop before her next assignment.
Seven days out from the Queen Elizabeth Stakes, the champion was given a workout over 1000m, with race jockey Hugh Bowman putting her through her paces after Saturday's first race.
She was clocked at 1.05.13 seconds, with her last 600m in 36.17 and Bowman revving her up only in the last 50m.
"It's just a question of giving her a day out and blowing the cobwebs out," trainer Chris Waller said.
"With three weeks between her last run and the Queen Elizabeth, it's important for everyone including her to get rid of the nerves.
"It helps keep her fit without having to punch her out.
"And it's also important for the strappers and the truck driver who brings her here.
"We don't want him getting nervous because he's got Winx in the back of the float."
Winx is odds-on to win the Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m), which will be her fourth and final start for the autumn.
