Connections are hoping Queensland's wet weather continues for another week after noted mud lark Mount Nebo earned another tilt at the Weetwood Handicap.

Mount Nebo ($4.40) made it seven wins on rain-affected tracks when he won the Future Furniture Open (1050m) at Doomben on Saturday.

The Wyong-based gelding had his first start since September but trainer Alan Denham prepared him with a good second in a trial two weeks ago.

Stable representative Len Wheeler said Mount Nebo would head to the Listed Weetwood (1200m) at Toowoomba next Saturday.

"He did a good job running fourth in the Weetwood in 2015 and it looks an ideal race for him," Wheeler said.

"He isn't very big but he carries weight well and he's very good in the wet. But the final say is with Alan."

Mount Nebo will have no trouble making the field for the Weetwood, which will have a huge entry, as he has won eight races and more than $500,000 in prize money.

Winning jockey Damian Browne said Mount Nebo was a natural wet-track horse that had always travelled well.

In the Brumby Sunstate Open (1615m), things did not go as planned for jockey Jim Byrne before he steered Brazen Moss ($2.70) to a win.

"The plan was to push forward but we ran into a bit of trouble on the first turn and I had to go back," he said.

"But he's a horse you can ride anywhere in the field and he finished very fast to score a good win."

Byrne said trainer Tony Gollan, who was at the yearling sales in Sydney, might have to revise his plans for Brazen Moss.

"Tony is keen to keep him to the lesser open company races but he might go further on wet tracks," he said.

Trainer Stu Kendrick had an anxious wait before his gelding Margin Trader ($4.40) scored his second Queensland win in the 2200m Benchmark 75.

Margin Trader, which was formerly with Mike Moroney in Melbourne, beat Maru Daze ($8.50) by a nose but apprentice Brooke Ainsworth, who was on the second horse, protested.

Ainsworth alleged Margin Trader had bumped her several times in the straight, causing her to lose momentum.

Stewards dismissed the protest.
