Dreams Aplenty showed he was on course for the big winter three-year-old races with a brave win in the Toowoomba Guineas on Saturday.
Apprentice Tiffani Brooker was forced to use up Dreams Aplenty ($1.90) early from his outside barrier to reach the lead.
However, the gelding then led all the way to beat Spring Tycoon ($8) by a neck after they staged a two horse war from the 200m.
Trainer John Zielke had hoped to run Dreams Aplenty in the Listed Weetwood Hcp on Saturday but when it was obvious he wouldn't get a run he switched the gelding to the Guineas.
"He was brave today and he can now press on to races such as the Sunshine Coast Guineas and Queensland Guineas," Zielke said.
"There is an outside chance we could look at the (Group One) Stradbroke but he would need to racing very well."
Dreams Aplenty will have his next start in the Listed Gunsynd Classic at Eagle Farm on April 29.
The Toowoomba Guineas has proved a good guide to a future top horse as previous winners include later stakes horses Jumbo Prince and Too Good to Refuse.
Brooker, who is leading the apprentices' title race, was full of praise for Dreams Aplenty.
