Lightning and a lack of light has forced the abandonment of the final three races at Caulfield.
A thunderstorm hit Caulfield following the running of the sixth race on Saturday which put the meeting on an indefinite delay.
Racing Victoria stewards inspected the track following almost 10mm of rain and were happy with the its condition, although it was downgraded.
Jockeys were in the mounting yard for the seventh race, which had been rescheduled for 5pm, but more lightning around the Caulfield track made for unsafe conditions.
"Safety is our number one concern," steward Robert Cram said.
Saturday's provincial meeting at Werribee was also abandoned because of thunderstorms after four races had been run.
