Spendthrift Australia have announced the addition of two new stallions to its 2017 roster, as well as service fees for their remaining stallions.

Swear, a stakes-winning son of Redoute’s Choice, and Hit It A Bomb, the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (Group 1, 1400 metres) winner by War Front (Danzig), are new additions to the roster of five stallions at Spendthrift Australia.

The new stallions will continue to add to the rapid growth of Spendthrift situated in the Macedon Ranges. Last year, just the second for the new operation, the team at Spendthrift more than tripled the number of mares covered by the farm’s three stallions.

“This is an exciting time at Spendthrift Australia. We have a lot of big things on the horizon as we continue to grow our brand,” said Garry Cuddy, General Manager at Spendthrift Australia.

“We are particularly looking forward to standing our first colonial stallion Swear, who was a stand-out yearling at the sales for us. Swear lived up to his looks on the racetrack, and we invite everyone to come out and take a look at him. You won’t be disappointed.

“We are also enthused to offer breeders a new young shuttler with a serious pedigree and race record.

“Hit It a Bomb is a son of the world-renowned War Front and from a wonderful running family. He was a Grade One-winning two-year-old on turf with a big turn of foot, and we believe breeders are going to really like him.”

A $725,000 purchase from the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Swear won on his racecourse debut as a two-year-old and was a Group 3 winning three-year-old.

He took out the Group 3 Ming Dynasty Quality over 1400m at Randwick last September, making him the first Spendthrift Australia yearling purchase to become a stakes winner while racing in the farm’s colours.

The colt went on to finish a close second in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes at Randwick the following month before he was retired after finishing fifth in the VRC Derby.

By champion sire of sires Redoute’s Choice; Swear is out of the New Zealand champion two-year-old filly, Crossyourheart (Show A Heart).

Trained by Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes, Swear retires to Spendthrift Australia where he will participate in the farm’s “Share The Upside” program for an introductory fee of $8,250 (Inc. GST). He will also be offered at $5,500 (Inc. GST) Payable On Live Foal.

Hit It a Bomb is the newest shuttler set to stand at Spendthrift Australia.

The well-bred colt became the lone Breeders’ Cup winner for War Front when he overcame a wide barrier to win the 2015 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Keeneland by a neck.

Trained throughout his career by Aidan O’Brien, Hit It a Bomb went undefeated in three starts as a two-year-old, winning the Listed Star Appeal Stakes over seven furlongs at his second start by four and a half lengths at Dundalk.

Out of the stakes-winning Sadler’s Wells (Northern Dancer) mare Hampton Liscanna, Hit It a Bomb is a brother to Brave Anna, who won the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes over six furlongs at Newmarket in September.
