She only won by a long head but Heavenly Anna's trainer Kerry Parker hopes that's enough to get the mare into a feature race at the Scone carnival.
Heavenly Anna ($3.80 fav) arrived late to beat Gretna ($4.40) in the #TheRaces Hcp (1400m) at Randwick on Saturday.
The win made up for her eighth in the Provincial Championship final two weeks earlier.
"It was a big effort and I'm hoping that might be enough to get her into the Dark Jewel race for the mares at Scone," the Kembla Grange-based Parker said.
"That was a tough win under 59-1/2 kilograms.
"She's a tough mare but she needs to be on the outside."
Her jockey Jay Ford said he was aware she needed to be outside horses and took his time.
"She doesn't like to be crowded," Ford said.
"The second horse, took off a fair way from home and I just took my time.
"It was a good determined win."
