South Australia's first $1 million race will have an added attraction with superstar Hong Kong-based jockey Joao Moreira booked to ride in the Robert Sangster Stakes at Morphettville.
Thoroughbred Racing South Australia confirmed on Monday Moreira would head to Adelaide for the May 6 meeting.
He already has five rides including Sheidel in the Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) and is unbeaten on the five-year-old mare from two rides including the Group One Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield in February.
"To have a jockey of Moreira's calibre riding here is a great coup for Adelaide and for Morphettville," SA Jockey Club chair Bodelle Francis said in a statement.
"Not only that, but to have him riding in our first million-dollar race is exactly the kind of high-profile name we believe our Festival of Racing now has the ability to attract."
Moreira, who is Hong Kong's champion rider and is dubbed 'the Magic Man', has won races in NSW, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia during flying visits to Australia but has not yet ridden in South Australia.
The Robert Sangster Stakes and the Goodwood (1200m) on May 20 have both had a prize money boost to $1 million this year.
Sheidel, trained by David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig, was narrowly beaten in last year's Sangster when she finished a short half-head second to Precious Gem.
The May 6 meeting also features the Group One Australasian Oaks (2000m).
