Bold Kingston has been behaving like a new horse after a recent upset win and trainer John Zielke says he is ready to spring another surprise at Eagle Farm.
The two-year-old takes on two of the most highly rated young horses in Queensland, Snitzkraft and Ours To Keep, in Saturday's Listed Dalrello Stakes (1200m).
The gelding was backed from $21 to $12 before winning a good standard two-year-old race at Doomben two weeks ago.
Zielke said he could see a marked change in Bold Kingston's attitude since the win.
"He is a different horse and seems to have matured. He has a lot more confidence. A win can do that for a horse," Zielke said.
"One thing he will have to his advantage will be having a run under his belt. There are some good horses in this race but I would expect him to give them something to think about."
Zielke is also expecting a big run from three-year-old Dreams Aplenty who will be aiming for his fourth straight win in the Group Three Gunsynd Classic.
"He was very brave winning the Toowoomba Guineas last start at 1600 metres. I think that is his best distance," Zielke said.
"He has been great this campaign and brave in every run. He will chase the Queensland Guineas and the Sunshine Coast Guineas.
"They will want to be doing something special on Saturday to beat him."
Zielke will stick with leading apprentice Tiffani Brooker on Bold Kingston and Dreams Aplenty even though she cannot claim.
"Tiff is riding as well as anybody and she knows both horses well," he said.
