Joe Pride is not sure how much racing on wet tracks has affected New Tipperary but he will give him his chance on a firmer surface at Rosehill before deciding whether to continue his preparation.

The four-year-old has been nominated for the Listed Lord Mayors Cup (2000m) and the Group Two Hollindale Stakes at the Gold Coast on Saturday but will stay in Sydney.

His best performance from four starts so far this year was his second on a soft track in the Ajax Stakes at Rosehill on March 11 with his other three runs on heavy ground at Randwick.

The Ajax (1500m) was won by It's Somewhat who went on to claim the $3 million Doncaster Mile.

"I've been waiting for a decent track for him," Pride said.

"He's crying out for a better surface after three runs on wet tracks at Randwick.

"I'm not sure if he's come to the end of his preparation or not but he seems fine to me so we'll give him another run and see what happens.

"When he did get a better track he ran second to It's Somewhat so I'm hoping he can reproduce that."

New Tipperary was one of 21 entries taken on Monday for the Lord Mayors Cup which included stablemate My Psychiatrist who will instead go to the Wagga Wagga Gold Cup on Friday.

The Lord Mayors Cup field is headed by Top Of My List who is also nominated for the Hollindale but co-trainer Anthony Cummings says she is most likely to run in Sydney.

Pride also has Butterboom entered for Rosehill in an 1100m-race and one over 1200m.

"She is a talented mare but she suffers from Venus Williams syndrome because she's Foxplay's sister and her younger sister is better than her," he said.

"She is for sale at the Gold Coast broodmare sale in May so she could run in a Listed race in Brisbane before then."
