Aidan O'Brien has strong hand in Guineas

Tuesday 2 May 2017, 9:29am

Champion trainer Aidan O'Brien has the two favourites heading the the 2000 Guineas and 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.

Churchill heads betting among 12 colts in the 2000 Guineas with O'Brien looking for an eighth win in the Classic on Saturday, which would make him the most successful trainer in the race's history.

"He seems fine at the moment. Everything has gone well and it's so far so good with him," O'Brien said.

O'Brien, who last won with Gleneagles in 2015, could also run Lancaster Bomber, Peace Envoy and Spirit Of Valor.

Churchill's stablemate Rhododendron tops the 18 fillies confirmed for the 1000 Guineas on Sunday.

Last year's Fillies' Mile winner heads a five-strong team for O'Brien who won last year with Minding who made her season debut with victory in the Group Two Mooresbridge Stakes at Naas on Monday.
