Four Sisters claims special Sandown win

Wednesday 10 May 2017, 3:38pm

Trainer Mick Kent has shared in the special victory of Four Sisters at Sandown.

Kent prepares the daughter of Authorised for his daughters Madeline, Gabriella, Stephanie and Danielle who claimed their maiden city success in the Schweppes Handicap on Wednesday.

Madeline and Gabriella were on course to see the four-year-old charge home from back in the field to claim victory.

Stephanie was absent while Danielle is officially too young to share in the ownership and was at school as Four Sisters claimed her second success from six racetrack appearances.

To complete the family affair, the mare was purchased by Kent's son Michael for $8000 and her victory on Wednesday took her prize money to just shy of $50,000.

Ridden by apprentice Jake Bayliss, Four Sisters was sent out the $4.40 favourite before scoring by a length from Born Magic ($31) with Diapason ($11) a half length away third.

"When I enter the horse, the first question I get is how much is first prize money," Kent joked.

"There's a bit of pressure, especially when they turn up."

But the girls say there's more than a monetary interest and take a keen interest in the mare, asking for a weekly stable report from their father.

Kent said there was more wins in store for the rising five-year-old.

The trainer believes in time she will get out in trip to at least 2000m.

""She's a nice mare with good ability," Kent said.

"We've taken our time with her and she has a penchant for soft ground and this is her time of year."
