Tony Gollan likes his chances of treble

Thursday 11 May 2017, 4:55pm

Premier Brisbane trainer Tony Gollan won't have a runner in the Group One Doomben 10,000 but he still expects to be a major player in three stakes races on the program.

Gollan had the biggest day of his career in 2014 when stablemates Spirit of Boom and Temple of Boom ran one-two in the 10,000.

Gollan has high hopes for filly She's Our Star in Saturday's Group Two Champagne Classic (1200m).

She's Our Star was early favourite for the Magic Millions Two-Year-Old Classic after she won her first start in October.

She was then third at her only other start behind eventual Millions winner Houtzen at Eagle Farm when Gollan decided she wasn't ready for the big race and spelled her.

"She is a pretty smart filly and I really expect her to race well. She has drawn well and while she hasn't had an official trial she has had a jump-out," Gollan said.

Gollan also believes he has strong chances with I'm A Rippa (Listed Queensland Day Stakes) and Sheiswhatsheis (Listed Singapore Turf Club Members Cup).

"The Queensland Day Stakes is probably the hardest all day on a hard day. There are a stack of good three-year-olds in it," he said.

"But he has been honest and he will be up on the pace so he has a chance.

He said Sheiswhatsheis was actually suited by drawing wide in 11.

"I think from the 1600 metre start she can roll across and be up near the lead. She just continues to thrive and a few of these will be giving her a start," Gollan said.

"It may not be a day we will win a Group One but I am still looking forward to it."
