Darren Beadman ticked off another achievement in his short time as as Godolphin's new trainer when Maternal gave him his first Queensland winner at Doomben.
Maternal ($5.50) shared the lead to the turn but came away to score by three lengths to Double Impact ($61) in the Ambassador Travel Handicap (1350m).
Beadman took over as Godolphin's interim trainer from John O'Shea last Sunday and had his first Sydney winners on Wednesday as well as his first stakes success with Duca Valentinois in the Scone Cup on Friday.
He was at Scone on Saturday but stable representative Brett Killion said Maternal was a tough mare.
"She has campaigned in Melbounre, Sydney and now Brisbane," Killion said.
"I don't know what Darren wants to do with her but she will probably stay here to chase fillies and mares races."
Leading Sydney jockey Brenton Avdulla believes there are more wins in Maternal.
"She got an easy lead but she was too good for them at the finish," he said.
