Corey Brown has had his Doomben Cup victory on Sense of Occasion soured by a seven-day suspension for excessive whip use.
Stewards charged Brown with using the whip three more times than allowed before the 100m in the Cup.
Brown, who pleaded guilty, received the same sanction as that received last month by apprentice Tiffani Brooker - who was suspended for seven days and fined $2000 after infringing in a Group Three race.
"She hit the horse a lot more times than you but this is a Group One so we impose the same penalty," Chief steward Allan Reardon said.
Brown's poor recent record, having been found guilty twice for excessive use of the whip this year, also counted against him.
Brown was fined at a Hawkesbury meeting and earlier this year was fined $2000 and suspended for 10 days after being found guilty of using excessive whip in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
