Mornington trainer's nominations declined

Friday 26 May 2017, 7:04am

Racing Victoria stewards will decline nominations from Mornington trainer Trent Pennuto after scratching one of his horses from a race at Moe after he was caught allegedly stomach-tubing the mare.

Chatober was withdrawn from her race at Moe on Thursday after the Compliance Assurance Team observed Pennuto and registered stablehand David Price stomach-tubing the mare at an off-course premises near the racecourse.

Stewards took evidence from Pennuto, Price and members of the CAT and confiscated items including a naso-gastric tube, bucket, funnel and liquid solution.

The liquid solution has been sent for analysis while swab samples were taken from Chatober and stablemate Nathan Road who finished seventh in an earlier race.

Under an Australian rule of racing Pennuto was advised his nominations would be declined until further notice.

Earlier this week stewards charged fellow Mornington trainer Pat Carey following a scuffle during which he struck Pennuto at trackwork on May 15.

Stewards will continue the Moe inquiry at a future date.
