Chris Anderson is excited about competing in black-type races against some of the best trainers in Australia.

The Eagle Farm trainer has already had a taste of stakes success with Elegant Composure winning the Listed Colin McAlpine Stakes in November.

He has Mishani Bullitt in the Group Two BRC Sires' Produce (1400m) and Mystic Opal in the Group Three Glenlogan Park Stud Stakes at Eagle Farm on Saturday and hopes both can earn their way to Group One level.

Originally a leading Brisbane hotel industry figure Anderson always had a dream to be a horse trainer.

He has gradually built up his team since starting training full time four years ago and has had 27 winners this season with another 58 minor placings.

"To be able to have two runners in stakes race on a major day of the carnival is obviously fantastic," Anderson said.

"I have real hopes both can run in Group One races later in the carnival."

Mishani Bullitt, who is one of a dozen horses Anderson trains for Mick Crooks, broke his maiden status in the $60,000 Scared Elixir Stakes at the Sunshine Coast two weeks ago.

"He showed he would run the 1400 metres and I have always felt he would be strong at 1600 so the J J Atkins should suit," Anderson said.

He is also looking to get Mystic Opal into the Group One Tatt's Tiara on June 24.

"You have to have a dream and there is nothing wrong with that," Anderson said.

"One thing Mystic Opal has shown is she really likes the new Eagle Farm track which can't be said for a few others."

He hopes the two have better luck than Elegant Composure who finished seventh in the Bright Shadow Stakes at Doomben last week after being held up for a run.
